What is Sesame Seed?
Sesame is an oil seed of sesame plant found in two colors, white and black. It is native to tropical areas in Asia, Africa and South America. It is an excellent source of healthy fat, protein, iron, zinc, vitamins, fiber, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, antioxidants and other beneficial plant compound owing to its multiple benefits. Sesame seeds contain Lingams and phytosterols which are plant compound and it help to lower down the cholesterol level. Phytosterols are also believed to enhance the immunity system and can decrease the risk of certain cancers.
Many researchers found that sesame seeds had the highest number of phytosterol content with 400 to 413 milligrams per 10 grams out of all seeds commonly eaten in United States.

• Sesame seeds has a rejuvenating quality. It makes person physically stronger as it contains calcium and strengthen the muscles, bones and joints. It is also a good source of plant based protein for vegetarians

HEALTHY RECEIPES WHICH SHOULD INCLUDE IN OUR DAILY DIET:


1) SESAME BALLS OR LADDU
Take one cup sesame seed 1 cup dates, half cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of ghee. First roast sesame seeds on low flame until it becomes light brown, blend dates and milk to make a thick paste. Mix sesame seeds, date paste and ghee and roll portion of this mixture into a sphere shapes and enjoy the sesame seeds balls or  laddus

2) Sesame pan cake:
Take one cup oat flour half cup sesame seed paste, half cup jaggery powder, half cup curd, 1 teaspoon honey, little salt to taste and milk required to make nice batter
Method:
Roast oats flour roughly on low flame. Now in a bowl mix oats flour, sesame seed paste, jaggery powder, baking powder, curd and salt. Now keep adding little amount of milk to make a pancake batter consistently. Now heat a pan, brush some oil on it pours a little batter
at a time and makes pancakes on a low flame. While eating drizzle some honey for flavour.

3) SESAME SEEDS CHUTNEY
Take 3 tablespoon of roasted sesame seeds, 2 tablespoon peanuts, half cup grated fresh coconut, 1 cup chopped red bell pepper, 1 tablespoon tamarind and salt to taste

Method:
Place some sesame seeds and coconut in a blender. Mix roasted peanut and tamarind, red bell pepper and salt. Blend all this into a smooth and fine consistency; blend this chutney with dossa or paratha.
Although there are several benefits of sesame seeds one must remember not to consume sesame in excess amount because it can lead to hiccup and breathing difficulty. It can even lead to lose motion. Those, who have sesame seeds allergies, should avoid all these things. In older days kings consume sesame seeds oil for massage on the body. As we grow old our skin also gets thinner and drier, so massage of sesame oil on the body. We should massage the oil on the body before taking bath and that would help retaining the moisture in the skin. Water will not dry the skin further, so try all these remedies and see as we grow older we will have great amount of strength, stamina, enthusiasm and every old person will also look really young and elegant of excess wrinkles are not. DOES SESAME SEEDS AGGRAVATE DIVERTICULITIS

Seeds and nuts can aggravate the symptoms of diverticulitis because seeds are a type of insoluble fiber which can cause bloating, diarrhoea and gas.
But the UCSF report says that sesame seeds are safe for people living with diverticulitis. Experts also says that it is ok to eat sesame seeds if consume in a powder form or with salad or juices.

DAILY INTAKE OF SESAME SEEDS
Sesame seeds ….1 to 2 tablespoon in a day
Sesame seeds capsules….1 to 2 capsules twice a day
Sesame seed oil…..2 to 3 teaspoon once or twice a day
Sesame seed powder….quarter or half teaspoon once or twice a day.

WHICH IS BETTER BLACK OR WHITE SESAME SEED
Generally  black sesame seed edge out white sesame seed. One tablespoon black sesame seed contains calcium, potassium , iron , magnesium and vitamins than a corresponding  amount of white sesame seeds

DISADVANTAGE OF SESAME SEEDS
If sesame seeds are not consumed in the limit, they might drop the blood glucose level below normal.
Excessive consumption of sesame seeds can drop blood pressure to dangerously low level.
Fibre from sesame seeds can form a layer over the appendix causing bloating and pain.
